For Starters

When Getting a tattoo or a piercing, use common sense:

Is the place clean?

Do you see an autoclave steraliser?

Do the employees have a professional attitude? This also means, do they bad mouth other shops? (Which is totally unprofessional and tells me they are insecure, jealous, or both.)

Don’t believe everything you are told. Use your own mind!

You should also eat within 3 hours before being tattooed or pierced or at least drink something with caffeine. This will help keep you from getting light headed or passing out.

The shop should be clean and an autoclave should be visible. If not, ask to see it. Make sure the equipment to be used is taken out of sealed sterile bags. Also make sure you see them dispose of the used needles in a hazardous waste container. If you do not see this, it is possible they are reusing their needles! At American Art, I use new needles per person and you see me properly dispose of used ones in the hazardous waste container. Also the inks used in your tattoo are not recycled for other tattoos. Please know American Art is licensed and Board of Health approved!

Tattoo Prices

My tattoos start at $45 and go up from there. Just because a tattoo is cheap does not mean it’s good. Of course an expensive one does not mean it’s good either. Basically you are paying for the artist's skill and experience, so prices will vary. Shop around to see if you are over paying. Compare me to other shops and you will find my prices VERY good for the quality and experience. I try to keep my prices fair. Remember to look at pictures of the artist's work. This will tell you if you want them to work on you or not. My overhead is fairly low at this location so I can pass the savings on to you!
